Quepos, Costa Rica. Technology with roots in the forest.

Good ideas do not ask where the office is

Raíces del Bosque is a small shop on Costa Rica's Pacific coast that thinks like a big agency and works like a garage. Websites, campaigns, revenue strategy, and AI-run workflows for hotels, tours, and rentals, with one name on the contract.

One name on the contract

Raíces del Bosque signs, invoices, and holds the tax ID. No account managers between you and the work.

Two languages, both written by people

English and Spanish written by people who live in both.

New tools, old instincts

Claude, Cloudflare, and Unreal Engine on the desk. Know the guest, respect the reader, make the phone ring.

How we think

The four rules

01

The brief is never the problem.

You ask for a website. The problem is a quiet September. We start with the problem, then decide what to build.

02

Unorthodox first, expensive last.

A review card at the dock instead of a paid campaign. A WhatsApp thread instead of a CRM. The cheapest thing that works gets tried before the budget does.

03

The tools changed. The job did not.

AI drafts the guest reply now, and the walkthrough is rendered before the building exists. The job is still to make someone want to come here.

04

Every idea gets a number.

Campaigns, rates, posts, and pages get measured and reported in plain language, in both languages. When something did not work, the report says so.

Proof

Numbers we will stand behind

42%

Average year-over-year growth for the hotels ECTM manages revenue for.

104%

Peak room-night growth at a single property.

11

Live sites on this page, most of them years old and still with us.

20+

Years inside hospitality before building for it.

Who this is for

If you can see a season coming, keep reading

  • Hotels and resortsA season to fill and an OTA bill to shrink.
  • Tour operators and chartersBookings that live on reviews and WhatsApp.
  • Villa and rental managersMore listings than hours in the day.
  • Real estate officesA market read, not another brochure.
  • Chefs, guides, and studiosOne person whose phone should ring more.
  • Teams drowning in re-typingThe inbox, the spreadsheet, the group chat.
AI workflows and systems

Put the repetition on rails

The expensive part of a hotel is not the website. It is the copying, chasing, and re-typing around it. We take that off the desk with the tools you already pay for, plus AI where it earns its place.

Agentic workflows

Assistants that draft guest replies, sort the inbox, prepare the weekly report, or watch competitor rates, then hand a person the decision. Built on Claude with clear lines about what runs alone and what waits for approval.

Pick the first job to automate

Digital integrations

Booking engine to CRM to email to accounting. We connect the PMS, channel manager, WhatsApp Business, Google Workspace, and Notion so a reservation is typed once and shows up everywhere it should.

Map the systems

SOPs and playbooks

Written procedures for reservations, front desk handoffs, housekeeping, social publishing, and review replies. Short, bilingual, with screenshots, and stored where the team will actually open them.

Start with one procedure

Systems deep clean

Shared drives, inboxes, media libraries, subscriptions, domains, and DNS, inventoried and organized. Duplicates merged, dead subscriptions canceled, access documented so nothing depends on one person's memory.

Book a systems audit

Reporting pipelines

GA4, Search Console, ad accounts, and OTA extranets pulled into one monthly read, written in plain language in both languages, so the meeting is about decisions instead of screenshots.

Team transition to AI

Rolling AI tools out to a team without breaking what works: which tasks, which guardrails, what stays human. Hands-on sessions in Spanish or English, then the follow-up that makes it stick.

What the guest sees

Sites, rates, campaigns, and the content that fills them. The same small team builds the systems underneath, so nothing gets lost in a handoff.

Websites and booking platforms

Fast static sites on Cloudflare, WordPress rebuilds, and booking flows that work on a phone. Casa Frondosa, Tucanes Tours, and The Costa Rica Directory were built this way.

SEO, email, and digital marketing

Search rankings that hold through the seasons, newsletters people open, Google Ads with a real conversion behind them, and the Google Business Profile kept current.

Ask for a marketing review

Brand, print, and collateral

Logos, menus, QR review cards, flyers, and link preview cards, so what guests hold in their hands matches what they saw on the screen.

About

Who is in the corner office

Michael Zoz runs Raíces del Bosque. He spent years inside Costa Rican resorts, eco-lodges, tour operations, and charters before he started building for them, which is why a pitch here usually opens with an occupancy chart, not a mood board.

The corner office is a laptop in Quepos. The team scales per project: photographers, editors, developers who know the coast, all working in English and Spanish.

Raíces means roots. Ideas can come from anywhere. Ours come from a place where the season, the OTA, the front desk, and the guest messaging at 10 pm are all real.

Questions

Questions we get

Why does my invoice say Raíces del Bosque?

Because it is the registered Costa Rican company that signs contracts, issues electronic invoices, and holds the tax ID. ECTM and michaelzoz.com are brands that belong to it.

Is ECTM a separate company?

No. ECTM is the hotel revenue management brand and website. A proposal may arrive through ectm.cr, but the contract and the invoice come from Raíces del Bosque.

Where are you based?

Quepos, on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast, a few minutes from Manuel Antonio. Most clients are on the Pacific coast and a few are elsewhere in the country.

Do you work in Spanish?

Yes. Copy, reports, and day-to-day communication in Costa Rican Spanish or English, whichever your team prefers.

How does a project start?

With a short call or a WhatsApp thread about what is not working. If we can help, you get a written proposal with scope, price, and timeline, usually within a week.

What does an AI workflow project look like?

It starts with a week of watching how the work happens now: the inbox, the spreadsheets, the WhatsApp groups. We pick one repetitive job, build the assistant or integration around it, run it beside the team, then write the procedure. Most first projects finish inside a month.

Will AI replace my staff?

No. What we automate is the repetition nobody wants: copying data between systems, first drafts of replies and reports, chasing the same numbers every month. People keep the decisions, the guests, and the final word.

Do you take on projects outside hospitality?

Sometimes. A private chef and a business directory are on this page. If the work fits, we say so. If it does not, we point you to someone better.
